Today's Daily Devotional

“You were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body.”

You are all the body of Christ as believers. Each individual is a part of it. There is one body but the body has many parts. Just as your body parts have many functions so does the body of Christ. All were baptized by one Holy Spirit into one body. All were gave the same Spirit.

Don’t act like you don’t need each other. It takes all the parts working together for the body to function properly. If one part suffers, all suffer. If one is honored, all are honored. Each member is gave different gifts. Use them according to the grace given to you.

If gave prophecy, use it according to your faith. If it is serving, then make sure you serve. If gave teaching, then teach. If it is exhorting, then exhort. If giving, then give liberally. If leading, then lead with diligence. If showing mercy, do it with cheerfulness.

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body-whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free-and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

— 1Corinthians 12:12-13

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

— Romans 12:6-8
