Today's Daily Devotional

“There will be terrible times ahead, but you musn't lose the hope I gave you.”

There are going to be terrible times ahead. Things will keep worsening. People will love themselves and they will love money. They will be proud. They will berate others. They won’t obey their parents. They won’t be thankful. They won’t be Holy. They will tell lies. They will be out of control. They will hate everything that is good.

They will turn on their friends. They won’t think before acting. They won’t be humble. They will love what pleases them instead of pleasing God. They will act as if they’re serving God. They will show they have turned on God. They are always learning but never able to know the truth.

Do not be like these people. Do not act like you don’t have anything to hope for. I gave you this hope when I died for you. So comfort each other with the hope you have.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

— 2 Timothy 3:1-7

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

— 1 Thessalonians 5:11
