Do not envy the wicked and their prosperity. Do not get depressed about the difficulties of living a righteous life. It seems to you like all day long you are afflicted. It seems like every morning brings new punishments to you. You look at the wicked and think they have no struggles.
You see their bodies healthy and strong. They seem free from common human burdens. They are not plagued by human ills. You see them acting like they don't have a care in the world.
They gain wealth. Do not choose any of the wicked’s ways. The destiny of the wicked who forget Me will perish their hopes. I will destroy all who are unfaithful to Me. I will be the strength of the righteous heart and their portion forever.
For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
