Today's Daily Devotional

Like the Good Samaritan, you must love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Love your neighbor as you love yourself. This is one of my greatest commandments. Who is your neighbor? Your neighbor includes not just people you know but also strangers. My commandment is to love even your enemies. Pray for those who persecute you. Do unto them as you would have done to yourself.

Do this and you will live. A man traveling was attacked by robbers. His clothes were taken from him. He was badly beaten and left for dead. A Levite saw him and passed on the other side of the road.

A Samaritan who was traveling had compassion. He bandaged his wounds. He took him to an inn and took care of him. He even paid the innkeeper and had him look after him. This is loving your neighbor.

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

— Leviticus 19:18

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

— Matthew 5:43-44
