When you are compassionate to others, you actually take a portion of the load and carry it yourself for that person. Being compassionate is a fruit of the Spirit. It is something that will come natural to you the more you become like Me. You will take pleasure in helping others and in sharing their burdens. When you don’t, you are being self-centered.
If you see an older woman carrying a heavy load of groceries in her arms, would you not lend a hand? The same is true for those who have spiritual burdens they need help bearing. Don’t be so focused on yourself that you miss opportunities to be compassionate and to help carry the load of others and I will bless you because of this.
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just asin Christ God forgave you.
— Ephesians 4:32
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
— 1 Peter 3:8
