When you look back, it is overwhelming. You panic at how far I have brought you. When you keep your eyes ahead, you are focused on the destination.
Just as it is when you leave a situation you should not be in, like when temptation is all around you, don’t look back. For it is then that you tend to second think your decision to leave. You should not give a second of thought to staying but hastily run from evil. Keep your attention on the places I am bringing you to.
That is not to say you should forget your past. Remember the chaos I have delivered you from. But do not dwell there. Keep moving forward with your eyes on the future so I can do a new thing within you.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.
— Philippians 3:13
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all you ways. Do not turn to the right or to the left, keep your foot from evil.
— Proverbs 4:25-27
