Today's Daily Devotional

Do not be jealous of those who do wrong. Their success is short-lived.

It’s easy to look with envy or anger at those who appear to be prospering in their evils ways. On My Word, Jealousy, fret and anger all stem from the Hebrew word “charah” which means to burn. You will lose your peace when you allow yourself to burn within because you are worried about what others are doing.

Whether you are truly angry that they are doing evil or are secretly jealous because they seem to be getting away with something and you can’t, the result is the same. Burning with anger or with jealousy is never advantageous to you. Like a child being upset because his friend can play in the traffic and he can’t, your attitude is just as foolish.

Let go of your burning negative feelings. Let Me handle the weeds in their garden and you tend to sowing seeds of good deeds. In the end, you will blossom and those bent in their evil ways will wither. I will make sure of it.

Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

— Psalm 37:1-2

Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the Lord always.

— Proverbs 23:17
